Responsible AI & student data

ScaffoldED360 uses AI to restructure instructional materials you already planned to use. This page explains exactly what leaves the app and what never does.

What is sent to the AI model

  • The activity text you upload or paste, after it has been extracted into blocks.
  • The instructional context you enter: grade or course level (K-12 or adult learning), subject, standard, and objective.
  • The anonymous learner-support descriptions attached to the profile you select.
  • Your delivery settings: the pedagogy or andragogy framework, the target reading level, and the accommodation supports you selected (for example chunking, sentence starters, language supports).

What is never sent

  • Your account email, password, or billing details.
  • Other teachers' activities, versions, or profiles.
  • Anything we can keep out of the request that isn't needed to scaffold the activity.

Use anonymous learner descriptions. Do not upload student names, IDs, contact information, medical information, disciplinary records, complete IEPs, complete Section 504 plans, or other personally identifiable student information.

Training and retention

  • Your content is not used to train AI models.
  • Requests are sent through an enterprise AI gateway for generation only.
  • Generated results are stored in your private workspace and deleted when you delete them.

Labeling AI-generated content

Anything the model writes is labeled so it never circulates without context. In the workspace, each revised block and each generated resource carries an origin badge: “AI-generated draft” until you decide, “AI-drafted · teacher approved” once you accept it, and “Teacher kept original” when you reject it.

Every DOCX and PDF export carries the notice: “AI-assisted draft generated by ScaffoldED360. Portions of this document were produced by an AI model and reviewed by the educator before use.” The change report adds a line recording that generation was AI-assisted and how many drafted blocks you accepted, rejected, or left undecided. This satisfies the transparency duty in EU AI Act Article 50 and the AI-labeling expectations in most 2025-26 district, state K-12, and adult/continuing-education AI guidance.

Teacher judgment stays in charge

  • Every change is labeled with its support category and rigor impact.
  • Changes that could reduce grade-level expectations are flagged for teacher review.
  • Accommodation, reading-level, and framework settings are instructional delivery preferences that you choose. ScaffoldED360 does not decide eligibility, IEP/504 content, or legally required accommodations, and its alignment QA checklist and objective mapping are advisory summaries you must verify.
  • Nothing should reach students until you have reviewed and approved it.

FERPA and COPPA posture

ScaffoldED360 is a teacher-facing planning tool. Students do not create accounts and are not asked for information. Because the app is designed to hold instructional materials rather than education records, teachers must remove student-identifying details before uploading. Our upload screens scan for common identifiers and warn you before anything is processed.
